Gators in the News: Trick Play Earns Top Billing in Gator Victory

Last week the Gators earned their first victory over Centennial in a 10-7 performance that was highlighted by strong defense and consistent quarterback play. However; the highlight of the evening, according to an article by Las Vegas Sun staff writer, Case Keefer, was on the special teams, when placekicker Nolan Kohorst, successfully completed a pass to senior receiver Joel Blankenmeyer on a brilliantly called fake field goal by Coach Gerber. The article was complimentary to Green Valley and the entire team. Foundations for the Future Player of the Week, senior quarterback Jordan Corbett, was praised for making “key plays,” as was the defensive line, who “set the tone” according to Coach Gerber in the article. The defense was given credit for forcing the game-sealing fumble and was referred to as “swarming.” Junior John Archuleta and senior Babatunde Adesanwo were singled out in the article. Senior running back Treveece Jackson was also praised for scoring the Gator’s only touchdown of the evening on a 49 yard run in the third quarter, as well as his gaudy stat line of 14 rushes for 76 yards. Congratulations to the Gators for the great press and the quick start.
