Picture Day Tidbits
American National Insurance Company Presents the Foundations for the Future Player of the Week
Frank Mauriello and Jarod Morgan, of American National Insurance Company, along with Coach Gerber, congratulate Green Valley quarterback, Jordan Corbett, for being named the Foundations for the Future Player of the Week. While leading the Gators to victory, Jordan completed 15 of 24 passes for 144 yards and carried the ball 17 times for 37 yards. His efficiency allowed the Gators to control the time of possession and keep the Centennial offense off the field.
Congratulations to Jordan Corbett and the rest of the team for a great win!

Gators in the News: Trick Play Earns Top Billing in Gator Victory
Last week the Gators earned their first victory over Centennial in a 10-7 performance that was highlighted by strong defense and consistent quarterback play. However; the highlight of the evening, according to an article by Las Vegas Sun staff writer, Case Keefer, was on the special teams, when placekicker Nolan Kohorst, successfully completed a pass to senior receiver Joel Blankenmeyer on a brilliantly called fake field goal by Coach Gerber.
The article was complimentary to Green Valley and the entire team. Foundations for the Future Player of the Week, senior quarterback Jordan Corbett, was praised for making “key plays,” as was the defensive line, who “set the tone” according to Coach Gerber in the article. The defense was given credit for forcing the game-sealing fumble and was referred to as “swarming.” Junior John Archuleta and senior Babatunde Adesanwo were singled out in the article. Senior running back Treveece Jackson was also praised for scoring the Gator’s only touchdown of the evening on a 49 yard run in the third quarter, as well as his gaudy stat line of 14 rushes for 76 yards.
Congratulations to the Gators for the great press and the quick start.

Gators in the News: Gator Kicker Making News on Last Year’s Game-Winner
Nolan Kohorst’s game-winning kick versus Coronado last year is still receiving attention in the local papers. On the side of an article written about the Gaels by Ray Brewer, Nolan is given kudos in a sidebar known as, “By the Numbers”. The sidebar also mentions his 51 yard field goal made during the same game, in addition to his scholarship offers from Air Force, UNLV, and Wyoming.
Congratulations to Nolan and the Gators! We are all proud of your accomplishments last year and those you have in store for us this year!
Gators in the News: Offensive Line getting Headline Love
The Green Valley Gators have big goals for this season under Coach Gerber, and according to the Las Vegas Sun’s Ray Brewer, their big guys on the offensive line will be largely responsible for accomplishing those goals. Last year, the GVHS Gators, led by Coach Gerber, won their first playoff game in ten years. In order to have postseason success for a second straight season, the Gators are going to have to rely on the experience of their offensive line to provide consistency for the team as new faces take over starting roles in the skill positions. The Las Vegas Sun’s Ray Brewer believes that the fact the Gators are returning four of their five starting linemen from a year ago, they will have the power up front to give the skill players time to embrace their new roles. To read more about the Gator’s offensive line and what Ray Brewer expects from the team this year please click on the link below. Good luck Gators and congratulations OLine for the good press! http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/aug/20/green-valley-will-rely-offensive-line-overcome-ine/
